For the intern to complete Phase 1 they will need to do the following:

  • Complete Field-Based Experience (if enrolled after 7/1/2023)
  • Update their Job Form
  • Update payment for Program Fees
  • Receive Temporary Certificate from the Department of Education

Field-based Experience

  • 60 hours must be completed in Phase 1 for Interns entering the ToT after 7/1/2023.
  • Florida Senate Bill 2524requires all interns enrolled after 7/1/2023 to complete at least 60 hours of field-based experiences (FBEs). Be sure to read the information needed to submit your field-based experience requirements accurately.
  • If the enrollment date falls before 7/1/2023, you are not required to complete FBEs. However, to solidify the knowledge you gain through your coursework and develop professional relationships with local schools, you may consider spending some time completing field-based experiences. If you choose to complete FBEs, please read the requirements in your Intern Portal

Job Form

  • This form is completed by the intern in their Intern Portal. It can be found under the Menu > Employment.  Once it has been submitted, the Certification Team will review it for approval.

Payment

  • The intern will choose their payment plan and submit the payment date. Invoices are created on the first of the month and will be drafted from their payment choice on the date they choose.  The payments will begin after we have all the intern's requirements met for Phase 1.

Temporary Teaching Certificate

  • The intern should send a copy of their Temporary Teaching Certificate. This is sent to the Certification Team for review.  Once it has been approved, the intern's account will be updated to hired, and payment will begin.
