There are 3 reasons we request a service record from applicants.

  1. Applicant has previously taught on an Emergency Permit
  2. Applicant has previously taught on a 1 year certificate
  3. Applicant has previously taught on a Non-Renewable Permit

Upon assessing an Applicant's TEA account, if you come across one of the 3 above certificates that they previously taught on, be sure to request a service record from the intern.  Applicants can request a service record from the district's HR department from where they taught at under the respective type of certificate.

Needing a service record does not automatically indicate that they need a transfer form, so be sure to review the Certifications in TEA article to determine this.

Applicants can send their service records to enroll@texasteachers.org.  Once an Advisor receives the service record they will need to attach it to the documents section of the Applicant's Prince account and send to our Certification Support department for review.  See Whom to Reach Out To

Certification Support team will review the service record and the Applicant's TEA account to confirm the number of certificates the applicant has remaining to teach on.

  • Candidates may only teach on up to 3 temporary certificates in a life time (with the exception of Emergency Permits for JROTC)

Certification Support will notate the account and email the advisor back indicating that the service record is good and indicate how many certificates the applicant has remaining to teach on.

Advisor should also notate the account once they recieve email communication back from Certification Support and indicate in the notes that this requirement has been met and move forward with the admission requirements.
