To advise the Intern: 

  1. You will submit an employment form 
    • This is located in your Intern Portal > Employment Tab > Add Employment 
    • Be sure to fill out all the boxes on this form 
    • Please note all relevant exams (to include supplemental exams: ESL, SPED, Bilingual, etc) need to be passed prior to certification recommendation 
  2. You must set up and confirm a payment method with Texas Teachers 
    • This is so you can start paying off your remaining balance during your internship year
    • Once you see Employment Verification is checked as complete in your checklist, give us a call so that we can set up a payment method with you 
  3. Send your statement of eligibility (SOE) to your school's HR department.  The HR department will fill it out and return the form to Texas Teachers.  
    • Your SOE is located in your Intern Portal > Enrollment Letter/SOE > View SOE
  4. You will apply for an intern certificate on the TEA website
    • This application will cost you $78.00

    • The entity you will be applying under is A+ Texas Teachers
  5. Texas Teachers will review submissions and move forward with recommendation when requirements are verified 
    • Please note: We will reach out to you with confirmation and if there are any remaining requirements needed, we will reach out for adjustments.  
  6. TEA issues your Intern Certificate
