Goal of this conversation is to help ensure preparation for our interns as they are only missing their content exams! Let’s make sure they have the right preparation materials, understand the next steps, as well as what happens if they don’t pass (but hopefully this prep call avoids that 😊)

*Congratulations on how much you've completed thus far! You are almost ready to be on your intern certificate in the fall!

Questions to engage with intern:

  • How has your experience been?
  • How are you doing getting prepared for the testing?
  • What study resources have you been using?
  • When are you planning to test?
  • Are there any supplemental tests you are looking to add prior to your intern certificate if so what are they? (ESP, SPED, Bi-lingual, etc)

AND

Looking to see if they are hired

If not: what they are doing to get hired (talk about our Get Hired Resources!)

We offer free test prep in your portal to help you with study preparation. These are old Pearson tests to best prepare you for

Resource: Testing timelines

  • EC-6
  • STR (minimum of 3 weeks) Plan to take no later than August 4th
  • SPED 161 (take first, then STR, then core subjects-which is tough)
    1. More schools are looking for core content, STR exam takes longer to grade because of written portion

Other great resources: Learning Liaisons

Remember, the test prep and exam have to be completed prior to submitting for your recommendation for certification and with state mandated changes coming to the program 9/1, you'll want to make sure you have everything completed in a timely manner.

Once you successfully pass your test(s), make sure your job form is filled out and begin the process to earn your intern certificate.

Why an Intern Certificate in the Fall?! What is the Value?

  • Access to mentors and field supervisors
    • Individualized feedback, coaching, and support
  • Your time teaching on your intern certificate gets you closer to certification
    • 180 instructional days and what that means
  • Differentiates you from other candidates who are not certified and are early in a program
  • Avoid state-mandate changes beginning 9/1

Financial Conversation: Program Fee Payment Options

  • "Let's talk about paying for the program"

or

  • "What do you know about the price and payment structure of our program"

or

  • "Have you thought about how you will fund the program?"
    • "At Teachers of Tomorrow, we're committed to ensuring our program is within reach for everyone.  We offer various payment options, including  convenient payment plans and pay-in-full options."
  • "How are you feeling about the program fee payment(s)?
  • "Have you started making that plan?"
  • "What resources have you looked into thus far?
  • As a reminder we offer
    • 10-month Payment plan where you can set up a card for the 1st or the 15th of the month (Check intern/enrollment agreement for the amount)
    • Pay in full option for $X,XXX.  (Check intern/enrollment agreement for the amount)
