The Indiana DOE has options for candidate's route to certification for the following individuals

  • Candidate holds a Master's degree with minimum of one year of teaching experience
  • Candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Education Studies (Or similar education degree)

IN enrollment advisors should ask probing questions to identify if applicants to ToT fall into one of the above categories.

Probing Questions:

  • Where did you graduate from?
  • What type of degree did you earn?
  • What did you major in?
  • Do you have any teaching experience?

If you identify a ToT applicant has a master's degree with teaching experience or a bachelor's degree in education please advise them the following:

  • We were recently advised by the Indiana Department of Education that candidate's like yourself who hold a master's degree with at least 1 year of teaching may qualify for a different pathway to certification.  I encourage you to reach out to the Indiana department of education to inquire about your options for certification.  There are different pathways and we want to make sure you are aware of your options to determine if Teachers of Tomorrow is a good fit.

  • We are eager to get you started but want you to be aware of all of your options prior to enrolling with us incase a different pathway to certification may meet your needs better.  I would encourage you to reach out to the Indiana department of education to determine which pathway works best for your educational degree and experience.

Please be sure to document this advisement in the notes of the intern's account.

  • Example: Advised candidate to reach out to DOE for certification pathways that fit their degree and experience.  Intern holds a bach degree in education.

(It is better to provide this general guidance at the onset of them applyling to our program vs. them later getting upset that they were not informed of their options.)
