South Carolina GPA/EXAM requirements are as follows:
Bachelor’s Degree from an institutionally accredited College/University with the following GPA/Exams based on certificate area:
Middle Grades/Secondary (high School) and All Grades (Art, Dance, etc.) |
At least 21 credit hours (major equivalency) in the content area with at least a 2.5 GPA |
Elementary/SPED |
1) 2.75 GPA or above.* |
Additional Notes: Candidates who completed a student teaching assignment through a college/university are disqualified automatically.
*Internal note, not for KB, but for everyone’s knowledge… We are working with SC to modify bullet 2 to read:
2) Candidate with a 2.5-2.74 cumulative GPA or the GPA for the last 60 credits AND passing scores on the Praxis CORE exam (all subtests) prior to admission
However, until this is formally approved by the state, we should look for the cumulative GPA.
