Our curriculum team has discovered a population of interns who will lose credit for some of the online field-based experiences they previously completed due to a technical error.  We have identified that due to a technical error, the number of hours completed was in accurately reported.

Population 1:

This population of candidates will now have below the state requirement of 30 hours for field-based experience.

Candidates will need to log into their intern portal to complete the remaining online hours to bring their accounts back up to 30 hours completed.

Talking Points Population 1:

  • "Intern, With a recent review of our accounts we identified that candidates were being credited for the reflection time as well as the video run time, which is not allowed.  That is why we have made the recent changes reducing your hours to reflect just the video run time so that you remain in compliance with your field-based experiences."

  • "I hear your frustration and I would like to provide an explanation as to why we have made these changes.  We strive to keep our candidates in compliance with current requirements to be eligible for an SOE and an intern certificate.  In a recent review, we identified a population of individuals who were not in compliance with their field-based experience and our goal is to communicate the steps you need to take to get back into compliance and be successful.  Are you familiar with how to access your online field-based experiences?"

  •  "I apologize for any inconvenience and know you have worked hard to get your requirements completed.  You are just a few short hours away from bringing your total back up to 30 hours.  You can complete the remaining online hours through your intern portal under Menu> Training Progress> Field Based Experience."

  • "Intern, I am so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.  We strive to ensure all of our candidates stay in compliance with state requirements and we want to make sure you have the hours needed to qualify for your Statement of Eligibility.  Our online hours are flexible and can be completed at any time day or night right in your intern portal."

  • "Intern, completing the additional online field-based experience hours will give you more exposure and experience to different classrooms, grades and subjects which will in turn help you be more successful in the classroom when teaching."

Candidates who completed the following OLD courses received 1 hour credit for each course and their accounts will be adjusted to reduce their credit to the following credit hour amount.

These courses will reflect in the advisor portal under the field-based experience tab like this. (If you see the status that is highlighted below, the intern received credit for an OLD course and now must log in to TCR000 to complete their remaining hours of NEW courses. )

Population 2:

This group of candidates completed one of our NEW online field-based experience courses and did not receive full credit for it due to their reflections not meeting requirements.

For Example: Intern completed a new online observation video and only received partial credit because their reflections were not scored 60/60

In their canvas account under TCR000 it shows 40/60 and there is a comment from the instructor.

  • These candidates will have their partial credit removed from their portal and it will look like it has not been completed.  In order to regain full credit they can log back into their TCR000 Field Observation and Reflections course and resubmit their reflections for full credit.

Talking Points Population 2:

  • "Intern, with a recent review of our accounts we identified that you received partial credit for a video reflection that did not meet requirements.  As partial credit for a video reflection is not permitted, we have removed your partial credit for that field-based experience.  To regain approval, you will need to log into your intern portal and access TCR000, and resubmit your reflection responses for that video to earn a 60/60. This will give you full credit again for the field-based experience in question."

  • "I do apologize for the inconvenience.  The good news is you do not have to re-watch the video, rather make edits to your reflection and resubmit for full credit."

  • "I know you have worked hard to complete XX hours of field-based experience so far and just a few reflection re-submissions will get you back into compliance."
