As of 11.30.23 we are moving previously approved test approvals for interns who had test approvals prior to the September 1st, 2023 required test prep implementation back to "Eligible" status.  About 27,000 interns with approved exams who have NOT completed test prep for the exam will have their exam(s) moved from approved status to eligible status.  


In order to gain re-approval of their exam they will need to complete the corresponding test prep with an 85% or higher on the practice test. 


A high-priority note will be added to the account as follows: 

NOTE:  Test approvals older than 9/1/2023 without completed test prep are no longer valid and are now in Eligible status. Intern must complete test prep for approval.  Intern is eligible for $125 program fee discount if the test is passed on the first attempt by 1/31/2024. Intern must be hired within 12 month of the discount eligibility to receive the discount. 


Who will receive the notification:

  • Interns who have enrolled prior to 9/1/2023 AND have NOT registered for a test with Pearson
    • If the intern is currently registered for their approved exam this will not affect them.  
  • Interns who have registered for a test and not completed test prep will receive a different communication (TBD)


Additionally, we are offering a $125 test discount from their program fees if the intern completes test prep and then passes their exam on the first attempt before1/31/2024.  The $125 will be discounted from their program fees when the contract is created upon hire.

Having successfully certified over 80,000 teachers, we know that "test preparation" is vital to a candidate's success. Test prep helps you build confidence, enhance your test-taking skills, and is proven to improve your chances of passing the certification test.

 

To better support you, we are providing FREE test preparation* for all our Texas candidates! This will now be a mandatory step before taking any TExES exam. As an extra incentive - if you complete the test prep and pass all the subtests on your TEA content exam within one attempt before Jan. 31, 2024, we will reimburse the $125 exam registration costs by deducting the amount from your Program Fee balance.**

 

Here is what you need to do next:

  • Complete your test preparation, including passing the practice test
  • TOT will provide approval for you to test in this area with the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
  • Register for your TExES content exam
  • If you pass ALL the subtests on your content exam within one attempt, the $125 exam registration cost will be deducted from your Program Fee balance.
