Many of our interns were not able to meet the deadline of May 15th for their internship project. A new project will launch in mid August, and those interns who did not meet the deadline will be able to submit their work then. Also, for any intern who submitted their project by the deadline, curriculum will be accepting re-submissions for them through May 31st.
A few things to keep in mind when speaking with interns.
Let them explode:
Let them get their frustration of missing the deadline off their chest and listen.
Empathize! They will be frustrated:
“I understand your frustration and I know you put in a lot of work this year.”
Provide a Solution:
“You can work on completing your remaining requirements over the summer so your project is the last requirement to complete come August.”
Or
“We can discuss the route of going on an extension to see if that is the right fit for you. Does your school require you to maintain an active certificate? If so, Here are the steps to go on an extension……..” (See Requirements incomplete extension)
