When interns apply to our program they are required to provide us with their social security number (SSN) for TEA account look up as well as TEA reporting requirements.  Sometimes, interns put the wrong SSN on their application by mistake.  When they create a TEA account on their own under their correct SSN and then we create a TEA account for them after enrollment to add exams and claim them under our program it creates 2 TEA accounts.

This is typically discovered when the intern has exams approved for them in Prince, and in TEA  but their exams are NOT showing in their Pearson account.  This is because they are using a different TEA ID number than the one we have on file.

Identifying the Issue:

  1.  If an intern states their exams are not showing available in their Pearson Account, the advisor should first confirm they are added correctly in Prince and in the TEA account we have on file.
  2. If the exams have been added and approved correctly in both Prince and TEA, the advisor should next confirm with the intern what TEA ID number the intern is using to register for their exams.
  3. If the TEA ID provided by the intern is different from the one we have on file in their Prince account they likely have 2 incorrect TEA accounts.
  4. The intern will need to contact TEA to have the accounts merged.  Provide them with the TEA ID we have and advise them to submit a TEA help desk ticket to request the accounts be merged.
  5. Do NOT ask them to verify their SSN.  Simply provide them with the TEA ID we have for them.

Actions Required by Intern:

  1. The intern will have to contact TEA to have their accounts merged.  We will not be able to add their exams to their correct TEA account with their correct SSN until their accounts are merged, because we already claimed them under A+ Texas Teachers with their admission records under the incorrect account.
  2. Interns can submit a TEA help desk ticket to TEA requesting the merging of accounts.  TEA Help Desk Ticket Be sure to provide them with the incorrect TEA ID we had for them and emphsize they will need to tell TEA which TEA account of theirs contains the correct SSN.
  3. Once their TEA accounts are merged, we can manually add their approved exams to their TEA account and the intern will be able to register for them through Pearson.
