Some intern's exam approvals do not upload to TEA as expected.  There are a few reasons this happens.

1.) If the intern was recently enrolled within 7 days their exams will not upload correctly to TEA.

2.) If the intern has an enrollment date of 2017 and prior, Texas Teachers previous process excluded some accounts from creating claims with TEA under our program name, A+ Texas Teachers.

Talking Points for Interns:

Reason 1) "Mr Intern, you were recently enrolled in our program on Month/Day.  It can take up to 7 days for Texas Teachers to get your exams added to your TEA account.  You may see these exams approved in your portal, but are unable to register for them yet.  Please allow an additional 5-7 days before your exams are available to register for.

In the meantime, you can be studying for your exam using our test prep in your portal under Menu> Training Progress> Content Test Prep.  Also in your portal under the Menu tab, you will find a 30 day free trial to premium test prep with the Learning Liaisons."

Reason 2) "Mr. Intern, due to your older enrollment date, Texas Teachers will need you to send in official transcripts.  In the past, there were some technical issues our program had with a few accounts that prevented us from creating an admission record for you in TEA.  In order to create that admission record now and rectify the situation, we will need your official transcripts to pull the needed information from.

Once we receive your official transcripts, and update our records with a current certification area, we will contact TEA to update your records and get the exam added.  This process is typically taking about 2 weeks.  In the meantime, you can be studying and preparing for your exam using your 30 day free trial to the learning liaisons in your portal."  " You can send official transcripts to transcripts@texasteachers.orgBe sure to include "transcripts for test approvals" in the subject line of your email."

Explanation to Advisors:

1.) Recent Enrollees within the last 7 business days

  • Texas Teachers has 7 days to enroll candidates in TEA and claim them under our program, A+Texas Teachers. At this time, an admission record is created for them with their admission certification area, corresponding exams, and GPA.
  • Please verify the TEA ID on file confirm there are not two TEA accounts.  If two accounts exist, please have the intern submit a TEA help desk ticket to merge the two accounts.
  • If an intern has exams approved in Prince, but not in TEA, first look at their paid enrollment date.  If they enrolled in the last 7 days, advise the intern that their content exams will upload to TEA within the next 7 days and be available for them to register for through Pearson.  In  the meantime, they can be studying for their exam using our test prep and their free 30-day trial to premium test prep through their intern portal.

2.) Old enrollees with enrollment dates 2017 and prior.

  • Texas Teachers previous process excluded certain accounts from creating claims in TEA under our program name, A+ Texas Teachers.  This was typically due to technical errors on our end.
  • These candidates may now be picking up where they left off several years later and notice they do not have exam approvals in TEA and can't register through Pearson.
  • In order to get their exams correctly added to TEA, Texas Teachers has to go back in and enroll the candidate in TEA, create an admission record and claim them under our program, A+ Texas Teachers.  This requires that we have their current transcripts on file, an active admission certification area, and qualifying GPA.
  • Texas Teachers did not start electronically saving transcripts to accounts until February of 2019.  Therefore, several of these interns needing test approvals now, don't have the required documentation needed for us to move forward with enrolling them in TEA and creating their admission record.
  • For these interns, please follow the steps below  in order to insure test approvals for the intern.

  1. Request official transcripts.  Official Transcripts can be sent to transcripts@texasteachers.org (Texas Teachers needs these to claim them in TEA and determine their admission cert area and GPA) Be sure to advise the intern to include “transcripts for test approvals” when sending their officials to alert our fulfillment team.
  2. Once transcripts are received, they will be attached in the documents section of the intern's Prince account.
  3. Next, a fulfillment analyst will process their transcripts and notify our Operations team by emailing stateops@teachersoftomorrow.org with a list of candidates daily whose transcripts we have processed.
  4. Lastly, our operations team will submit a help desk ticket to TEA with a request to create an admission record and provide the admission info needed to enroll and claim them in TEA to approve their exams.
  5. TEA then notifies our operations department when the admission record has been completed.
  6. Operations will notify Sam Logan, Program Manager, by updating the below spreadsheet.  An advisor will add the exam and notify the intern.

We are currently tracking intern's accounts that have pending test approvals for the PPR and Re-approvals for all interns on this spreadsheet. xlsx iconPending Test Approvals.

Should you discover a new intern account, please email lead@texasteachers.org.  Sam will review the account during her test audit and have a designated advisor add it to the list.
