All Advisors should advise interns that moving forward we need the new SOE and mentor information in order to move forward with recommending the intern for their certificate.  

What is it? 

• Statement of Eligibility - Shows districts the intern is immediately eligible for hire and their intern certificate.  

When do interns gain access?

• Regular Hires gain access once they have completed their testing, training and field based experience.  
• Late Hires gain access once they have passed their content exam(s) (See Late Hire Info) 
• SOQ candidates gain access once they have an approved SOQ, if late hire - If regular hire, they must have an approved SOQ and have completed their required courses and field based experience.

SOE Processing  

• SOE processing for the 24-25 school year will begin in mid May of 2024.  
• Why? New Texas Administrative Code states that mentor teachers must be trained no earlier than 12 weeks of the intern’s start date.  And no later than 3 weeks.  Delaying the processing of SOEs for next school year will allow this timeline to take place. 
• We are actively processing SOEs and as previously communicated, we will process the SOE within 12 weeks from the 1^st instructional day parameter provided by TEA.
• It is important to note that the SOEs must be completed in their entirety, meaning that there must be no missing dates, signatures, checkboxes, etc. to allow for ease of processing. Districts have been given a video to help them in the SOE completion process.

  The last day to submit the old SOE is July 1^st, 2024. After July 1st, we will only accept the updated SOE in the intern portal.  

Once the intern is eligible for their  SOE they can download it from their intern portal.  It is located under Menu> Enrollment Letter/SOE. 

The New SOE realeased on 05.22.24 has a new look and feel and we have added a requirement for districts to include mentor information, time taught information, and district representative contact information to include when communicating about the processing of the SOE or intern certificate.
