Statement of Qualification forms are used for interns that are pursuing a Career and Technical Education area (CTE) including Health Science and Marketing only and Trade and Industrial Education IF they have a bachelor's degree.
Please note: We are no longer accepting applications for candidates with less than a bachelor's degree which means we will no longer allow candidates to pursue trade and industrial education unless they hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree. In the event an intern with a bachelor's degree would like to pursue a Trade and Industrial Education certification area, they will need to discuss it first with an advisor.
An approved SOQ in a trade and industrial education area allows the intern to use their work experience in place of a content exam. For Health Science and Marketing, it simply approves them or allows them to take the exam.
QUESTIONS TO ASK INTERNS INTERESTED IN PURSUING CTE OR T&I AREAS AND WANT TO SUBMIT AN SOQ APPLICATION:
1. Do you hold a bachelor's degree or higher? (If the intern does not hold a bachelor's degree, advise them that the do not qualify for our program)
2. What are you interested in teaching? They MUST give you a Trade area. If they state an area they can pursue the traditional route, let them know they don’t need to fill out an SOQ application. See Test List
3. How many years of wage-earning experience do you have in “said” field? Please refer to the chart below to determine how many years of experience they need. ALWAYS VERIFY WHAT DEGREE THEY HAVE! If they don’t have the experience in that specific field then you let them know they cannot proceed with the SOQ application
4. Do you have a corresponding license/certification in that field? All CTE/T&I areas requires a license/certification EXCEPT MARKETING. If they don’t have a license/certification you must let them know they need one and can’t proceed with the SOQ application.
5. If they qualify to submit an SOQ application, please let them know of these following items required on their form:
- At least the month and year must be listed for each employer
- Only list work experience that directly corelates to the CTE/T&I area you want to Teach.
- Under references, we need 3 references total. List what employment they are from (must be from the work experience you listed)
- Must list a professional email address under "Address" on the form.
